GusGus presents "Hateful (Ada feat. Mayburg Mix)" - a smashing new video!

GusGus LIVE!

GusGus are easily one of the most well known acts in electronic music
today with over 500.000 albums sold in their illustrious career.

Who doesn't remember "David"? or "Moss"?

And now it's "Add this song"!!

Don’t call it a comeback but their signing to Kompakt marks a crucial
step forward for the band and dare we say their most impressive
recordings to date.

24/7, the new Gusgus album, is an overwhelming, multifarious,
interwoven and braided musical atmosphere where the listener has to
surrender to the music and adhere to the conditions that the music
demands.

24/7 is a wet dream!

Gusgus are: Birgir Thorarinsson aka Biggi Veira, Daniel Agust Haraldsson and Stephan Stephensen aka President Bongo.

Gus-gus formed in 1995. A short brake in a making of the shortcut made it possible for the first Gus-gus self-titled album to be born. In 1996 the band signed to 4AD Records that released their widely acclaimed second album “Polydistortion”. "This Is Normal" followed in 1999 and finally” Gus-gus vs T-World" appeared in 2000. During the 4AD years, Gus-gus started touring massively, stirring the music world with their powerful live-show. The touring life was stressful for the nine some and eventually called for changes within the line up. Six original members left and the three remaining producers (Veiran, President Bongo and Herb Legowitz) soon found hope in a new female singer, Earth aka Urður Hákonardóttir.

In 2002 Gus-gus re-appeared with their 4th studio album "Attention" which includes their most successful dance floor hit “David”. On the album the band teamed up with the legendary producer Gareth Jones and Finnish multi-instrumentalist Jimi Tenor. The album demonstrates a sharply focused club-band full of creativity and even more energetic than ever. Daníel Ágúst sings on one song but is on break from the band as he’s working on his solo career. His first solo album, “Swallowed a Star” was released by One Little Indian in 2006 and includes the future hit of Gus-gus, “Moss”. From 2004-2006 Gus-gus take a break from touring but continues working on the fifth studio album, Forever. GusGus keep on maintaining their massive following as DJs.

Forever is released on Pineapple Records in February 26th, 2007, followed by massive touring and the band appears on major festivals like Glastonbury, Split, Creamfields and Benecassim.

Their sixth album, 24/7, will see the light of day on July 6th. The album features the future line-up of Gus-gus and brings Daníel Ágúst back as a full member of Gus-gus. The album will be released internationally as other releases by Gus-gus.

GuGus News July 2009

The first Single "Add This Song" is out already

GusGus has just put the first single from the upcoming Studio Album on the market.

And the immediate reaction has been tremendously positive.

On the Single you´ll find five different versions of the 12” original “Add This Song”. To begin with there is the 12” version, but then there are remixes from the able hands (and minds) of Lopazz & Zarook, Patrick Chardronnet, Gluteus Maximus, and Klovn (whose remix is only to be found on the digital issue).

John Digweed is just flabbergasted by Paterick Chardronnet´s remix and this version is now in second place of Digweed´s tunes most often played these days. “Add This Song” is also praised by Resident Advisor, Mixmag, XLR8R just to name a few and RECORD COLLECTOR. The good people over at Resident Advisor have awarded the Single four out of five possible and they are painfully looking forward to the “24/7” debut. You can, of course, get the Single on iTunes, Amazon, Kompakt and even further afield.

The Video is coming very soon and it has some awesome cast.

Sonar, Roumania, Kosovo and Copenhagen

The concerts that GusGus appeared at during the month of June were a screaming success and goosepimple-producing affairs. Of course it is impossible to see and

hear a difference between good concerts and good audiences, but the Kompakt Night at the Sonar was wonderful, putting it mildly. However, Romania, Kosovo,

and Copenhagen ran up close. At Sonar GusGus were amidst good friends and the evening was an occasion to remember, - as you can see and hear below!

Concert appearances and dj gigs

GusGus will appear both Live and in DJ sets this summer and in the fall. The following dates have already been confirmed. We´ll keep you posted.

08.07 DJ (President Bongo) – Coco Loco Room @ Privilege – Ibiza
09.07 DJ (President Bongo) - Harry Klein, Munchen, Germany
11.07 DJ (President Bongo) - Goethe Bunker, Essen, Germany

GusGus News May 2009

Summer is here

Summer is here and our boys in Gus-gus are livelier than ever. This winter the seeds for the “24/7” album were planted in the studio at Önundarfjordur – and the crop will be harvested and disseminated far afield this summer. The testing of “24/7” has been gone over tremendously well in the Icelandic market, despite a national dance of financial crunch in times of crisis. The result of a remarkable diligence and resilience was obvious at the two first SRO local Gus-gus performances in Reykjavik and in Akureyri – you could see the perspiration cover the walls, jaws caressing the floors and all joints squirm and wriggle in amazement and joy !

A slight delay for “24/7”’s release date - and the first single

Our record company has decided to delay the release of “24/7” for about three months, so the album will not be in shops until early September. However, the first single is due at the end of June. The title will be “Add this Song.” with remixes from: Patrick Chardronnet, Lopazz, Klovn
Kasper Björke and Gluteus Maximus!

Remix

As we told you earlier, the Gus-gus group has signed a contract with the outstanding German record company KOMPAKT in Cologne – to a great mutual satisfaction.

The Gus-gus group has recently been busy as bees in remixing; they have always been sought after in the remix field as you know. One of their recent remixes has been a new effort for the aberrant and spunky SNAX from Berlin, “Out of Trouble.” This remix was done in collaboration with Gluteus Maximus, which is a twosome made up of President Bongo and Jack Schidt. On the same record you can also find fantastic remixes by Peaches and Crazy P. Then there are remixes for Remute and Paul Jackson coming up soon!

The Icelandic band Gus-gus originally spawned from a shortcut made by Siggi Kjartansson and Stefán Árni (a.k.a. Arni & Kinski) called “Pleasure”. Initially the band was acclaimed as an avant-garde collective of musicians, producers, filmmakers and performers. They mixed together different mediums to create a unique mixture of sound and vision. Their trademark style is combined with funky bass, streamlined synths and the intelligent use of technology and art. Árni & Kinski did the visual part and the musical side was driven by Birgir Þórarinsson (a.k.a. Veiran), Stephan Stephenssen (a.k.a President Bongo), Magnús Guðmundsson (a.k.a. Herb Legowitz). The live band was fronted by singers Daníel Ágúst, Hafdís Huld and Magnús Jónsson (a.k.a. Blake).
