Namito launches new label GREENHORN

In a time and era when being a DJ is probably one of the coolest jobs one can have, Greenhorn; a new record label is giving young talents a platform to join the cool, hip and evergrowing Electronic club scene.

Andreas Engels (owner of Blufin and Yellow Tail) alongside Berlin DJ of 20 years; Namito, put together their years of experience and contacts to create this label; a launching pad for young talents to help them establish themselves in the Electronic club music scene, not as 'one hit wonders' but as long lasting artists.

Namito's homeland; Iran is home to many talented underground artists which have been silenced by the Islamic Regime, Greenhorn wants to give a chance to those artists to release their work and share it with a world beyond their borders. Greenhorn hopes that this will motivate young Iranians to be more creative.

And if you were wondering where the name of the label comes from all you need to know is that Namito is a supporter of the Green Iranian Freedom Movement which started in June 2009. So that is where Green comes from and we leave it up to you to guess where the horns come from ;)

Greenhorn launches on September 6th 2010.

Out now : Eyerer & Namito - Ripcurl

Namito's debut album "Eleven" on Martin Eyerer's imprint Kling Klong Records! Out Now!

Combine the knowledge of Babylonia, Pythagoras, astrological philosophy from Hellenistic Alexandria, early Christian mysticism, the occultism of the early Gnostics, the Hebrew system of the Kabbalah, The Indian Vedas, the Chinese "Circle of the Dead", and the Egyptian "Book of the Master of the Secret House", and you’re still not even close to cracking the genetic code of “Eleven”, Namito’s first ever longplayer released on Martin Eyerer’s Kling Klong label.

The number 11, often associated with the life path of a person, is of very special significance for Namito, a genuinely creative person. Those who dive into the magic creases of the eleven tracks gathered on “Eleven” -- story-telling, handcrafted music as colorful as a hand-woven Persian carpet -- quickly find out why this number plays such a significant role in Namito’s life. “I always knew that the number was of special importance for me. When I arrived in Germany, I found out that I was actually born in November”, recalls Namito.

His dad -- with a sharpened bamboo stick he painted only one word: “Allah” -- was a calligrapher so gifted he got appointed by the highest royalties. Namito takes the eminent artistry running in his family to the next level: In the early nineties, he, a teenager who’d escape the watchful eyes of his uncle in whose custody the young Iranian grew up after leaving behind his native Tehran, laid the foundation of what was to become one of the planet’s most fertile playgrounds of the electronic music scene.

The DJ and producer, one of the Zen masters of the emerging Berlin scene, honed his skills DJing at the legendary Bagwan disco on Ku’damm while living and breathing music in his commune during the Nineties, and started coming forward with his own productions after “inheriting” an entire studio from a Krautrock legend. One of the many lucky coincidences that make Namito’s life story such an outstanding one. And his music so rich.

“Eleven” has it all: the deepness of late night grooves combined with the audiophile finesse that makes Namito’s productions so tight and crisp. A very laidback attitude and a lot of knowledge and feeling combined with a lot of imagination equal a massive ride that never sounds worn out or prefabricated.

Huge first single from Namito’s forthcoming album “Eleven”

After the groundbreaking “Seven Lives” in cooperation with his mates Martin Eyerer and Stephan Hinz, Berlin’s finest Persian Namito drops the second bomb from his forthcoming debut album “Eleven” (to be released end of june 2009). A driving groove, catchy “Get Busy” shouts and a very surprising synthie-breakdown. Just the right ingredients for a big clubtrack. With the help of two other collegues from Berlin (Phonique & Tigerskin) and Canada (Strict Border) on the remix duties, this whole release should stay in the case for the whole summer.
