Alex Kiss
Kiss And Tell
Get your facts right. We’re not talking about the band Kiss, we’re talking about Alex. Here he comes. Alex Kiss (yeah, this is actually his real name, baby) is just as much a pivotal figure of the Bavarian club scene as Kiss are of glam rock. Authentic to the bone, Alex grew up behind the turntables whilst shaping his distinct Kiss style. He is a true reveler who made a name for himself with his highly seductive sets, enchanting the receptive audience with his charming personality that gives back to the floor what he receives from the dancing crowd: love and attention. It is down to the older generation to trace back the origin of Alex Kiss’ who kick-started his DJ career back in 1999 when he became a steady outfit at avant-garde locations that showcased new talent in Munich. It was in this very nucleus of Munich club culture that he began to shape his style which, according to Alex Kiss himself, can be described as “sexy” (how else, with a name like this?), captivating and alluring with its distinct emphasis on a heartbeat-paced groove, and emotive sequences. It was just a question of time until Alex got booked in many a formative location that made up the core of the national club scene. Due to his great engagement the sparkling scenester became the resident in Prinzip Club Munich which opened its gates in 2003. In the years that followed, Alex welcomed many, many well-known DJs and live artists, opening and closing the explosive club nights that would become legendary amongst Munich club goers. “I learned a lot about music during that time”, recounts Alex: “It’s crucial for a resident to get the crowd going; otherwise the whole night is a failure”. First engagements in other cities, for example at the legendary Sonne Mond Sterne Festival, Nature One, Marlboro Summer Jam, Snow Zone, Climax, Love City and then other countries like Russia, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, France and the USA followed suit, resulting in a residency in Hospital Club Khabarovsk, Russia. In 2006, Alex was asked by the UK electro pop outfit Client to join them on their German and Austria tour promoting their new album. Accompanying the sultry trio, Alex was be in charge of the dance part that would follow the live engagement of the band, regularly firing up the post concert fiestas. In the meantime he will sassily groove any dancefloor. Hopefully somewhere near you as well. Charts October 2009
